Keep in mind that regardless of means of creation all students’ work will centralize around the general topic of narrative, storytelling and authorship. You should explore the visual and structural components of the narrative, by observing your surroundings and challenging the roles of the writer or visual communicator. This week the associated readings will focus on the role of the five senses in building, informing, and contextualizing a narrative. You should consider how the artists have addressed the senses though symbolism. You also need to be aware of yourself as you stroll though your surroundings each day: examine the sights, sounds, and smells when you are in public. How are these different than what you experience at home? How do these differences influence you and affect the decisions you make?
